Biography

Gordon Leary is a Brooklyn-based bookwriter and lyricist originally from Chagrin Falls, Ohio. His musical Pregnancy Pact (Julia Meinwald, composer) received its world premiere in August 2012 at the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company after being seen at the 2011 National Alliance for Musical Theatre Festival of New Musicals, 2011 Yale Institute for Music Theatre, and Ars Nova’s Uncharted Series. Cheer Wars (Karlan Judd, composer) won the 2009 Richard Rodgers Award and was seen at the Directors Company in 2010. Other musicals include Across the River (Hyun Rim Kim, composer), 2009 Daegu International Musical Festival, Daegu, Korea; Disappeared (Julia Meinwald, composer), 2009 Lincoln Center Directors Lab; Sled Ride (with Rochelle Bright, Aravind Sreenivasan, composer), 2007 Auckland Art Gallery; and One-Man Show (John Heginbotham, choreographer; Julia Meinwald, composer), 2010 DanceNOW [NYC] Dancemopolitan at Joe’s Pub. His songs have been heard in concert at Ars Nova, Lincoln Center, 92YTribeca, Symphony Space, the York Theatre Company, and New York Theatre Barn. Gordon was a 2009-2010 Dramatists Guild Musical Theater Fellow. He holds a B.A. from Vassar College and an M.F.A. in Musical Theatre Writing from NYU/Tisch School of the Arts.
